Pershore 2nd 27 - 5 Bournville 2nd

Pershore 2nd team were triumphant on Saturday when they entertained their Bourneville counterparts at Piddle Park. A dominant display by the forwards ensured the backs endured plenty of possession and kept the home side on top throughout the encounter. The Pershore set piece worked well. Ed Day & Greg Shaw competed well in the lineout and the front row of Damian May, Andy Bridges & Adey Morris ensured that Pershore had plenty of go forward ball at the base of the scrum. Number 8 Carl Redman had his fellow forwards to thank for the opening try as the home pack pushed the opposition over there own line at a scrum, and all Redman had to do was dot the ball down. Unfortunately fly half Scott Morris had a difficult day with the boot, scoring only 1 out of 5 attempts. Further scores for the Piddle Park outfit came from Flanker Steve Holmes and a brace for Centre Marcus Whyte, supported well by the lively scrum half Alex Hanson.

With Pershore leading 20-0 at half time Bourneville finally came into the game and opened their own account. But the comeback was short lived as the Pershore pack regained their stranglehold on the game and gave Redman the opportunity to cap off a fine performance with another try from a pushover scrum. The centre partnership of Whyte and Matt Cyphus could have given Pershore more points but the blustery wind late in the game made passing difficult and on several occasions the try scoring passes did not go quite to hand. The stand out performance for Pershore was certainly from their captain, prop Damian May. He made more than his fair share of yards with the ball in hand and scrimmaged dominantly.

Pershore 3rd team lost out 25-14 to Upton 2nds in another game at Piddle Park.
