Pershores depleted squad travelled Rugby to take on title chasing Old Laurentians. It was always going to be difficult for the Piddle Park outfit but the difference in league position was not really obvious until late in the first half. Pershore in fact led until the half hour mark after a sniping run from scrum half James Bishop who collected his own grubber kick to score. The conversion was missed. OL’s did hit back with a penalty but found the visitors defence particularly tight. On 25 minutes Pershore Number 8 Kris Bassett was sin binned for offside and from then on the traffic was all one way with the home side scoring 4 unanswered tries before half time.
The second half started badly for Pershore with OL’s scoring a quick converted try. Pershore replied with a penalty try after flanker Richard Jenkinson kicked a loose ball and was impeded in his attempt to touch down. The conversion was added by Lock Marcus Whyte. With the final 20 minutes approaching Pershore made some changes bringing on Luke Waters into the front row for his first team debut and bringing back Stefan Ellis after a two month layoff. The impact from Ellis was almost immediate. Flanker Josh Hardiman, who had linked up well with the backs all afternoon, made a break and managed to slip a pass to Ellis who rounded the winger and full back to score. That ended the scoring for Pershore although 3 late tries for the home side gave a very ones sided look to the score line with the home side winning 57-17. Next week Pershore entertain Berkswell and Balsall in a rearranged league fixture and will welcome back no less than 7 players to the squad
