Playing in difficult conditions, Pershore worked hard in defence, and although handling let
them down at times early on, they were more than competitive for the full 80 minutes. Hard
work in the forwards with stalwarts Karl Evans and Toby Grace in the engine room,
supported well by Jacob Smith, Huw Williams and Ashley Wilcox, providing good periods of
possession and quality ball for the backs to run at Worcester. Veterans Rob Haines, Dave
Snell and Matt Harwood created well for the younger outside backs to create havoc around
the field. Alex & Dan Ludlow and Harry Westby putting in good performances, with Chris
Steele making up for missing an early opportunity, bagging a hat-trick of scores to break
Worcester’s spirit. Worcester looked dangerous throughout, but some hardened tackling
from the home team kept the visitors at bay, particularly either side of half time. They then
steadily got on top in attacked, with Steele’s hat-trick the icing on the cake of a man of the
match performance.
