Good team spirit and great application was shown by the 2 Pershore U7 4 player teams in 4 games where sportsmanship was a continuing theme ...

Away at Malvern St James vs Ledbury RFC.

As the wet weather continued Pershore U7's experienced a new phenomena, Rugby without the mud - a real treat for the parents, but less appreciated by the kids. They were welcomed by Ledbury (whose home pitch was still waterlogged) to Malvern St James astroturf.

The exposed pitch was windswept and wet but the U7's were in good spirits and set about their mornings work with a good team spirit and great application. The 7 players made Pacey a Ledbury player lent to us very welcome especially as his name aptly described the way he played. Split into 2 teams we played four games. Pershore Blue were Amy, Rowan, Carter & Will K who won their first match and drew the second. Pershore Green consisted of Jack, William, Logan & Pacey lost one match and drew their second game.

Pershore Green V Ledbury Red

The 3 Pershore U7's and guest Pacey enjoyed a closely fought battle, the lead changed hands on almost every possession. The only breaks in the rhythm occurring after a foot went into touch or the ball was dropped forward after a tag and turned over. Sadly Pershore made one more error than Ledbury who came out 6 - 5 winners. Jack Hurn top scored for Pershore with 3 followed by William Bishop and Logan Kempson with 1 each.

Pershore Green V Ledbury Orange

The second game for Pershore Green was a much faster affair, they had got used to their temporary team mate and worked the ball well, completing some good passes, the fishing net worked well, catching a good number of tags. Ledbury Orange had gained from watching their club mates and kept pace with Pershore in a fast and furious exchange. The encounter ended honors even at 9 each. All players contributing both in attack and defence. William Bishop joint top scored with Pacey at 3 each, Jack 2 and Logan 1.

Pershore Blue V Ledbury Red

Pershore Blue played 2 games against a changing Ledbury Red. Both games were tightly contested with good team play on either side. Will Kimberly dominated the scoring for Pershore with a total of 14 tries. 8 in the first and 6 in the second. Amy Oats was ever vigilant making some good tags and passing well. Carter Adey scored 2 in the first game and 1 in the second with Rowan Thomas touching down in the first. Pershore just piped it with an 11 - 10 victory in the first game and a 7 all draw in the second.

Best Attacker: Carter Adey
Best Defender: Jack Hurn
Best Sportsman: Logan Thomas

All concerned enjoyed their first experience of astroturf and left the field of battle windswept and happy.
