The Pershore U7 teams all do us proud, with plenty of fun along the way.

Pershore U7’s, proudly sporting their smart new kit kindly sponsored by Vic Haines Transport, welcomed Ledbury U7’s to a slightly less wet Piddle park for a morning of Rugby fun. A squad of 14 were split into two teams and enjoyed 4 competitive games of tag broken up with an exciting game of bulldog to cement friendships.

Pershore Red met Ledbury Blue, the mix of new and established players worked well from the off, William Bishop running in a try within seconds of the start. Ledbury had to work much harder for the next try with tags being made across the team. Nelson Amphlet linked up well with Nat Bracewell to score the second for Pershore. William and Nelson each crossed again to finish the half 4 – 3 to Pershore.

The second half saw both teams fighting hard to control the game with tries and turnovers in equal measure. Olivia came on as a sub in the first half and truly found her feet in the second with an excellent try and some good tags. Josh Sanders was denied twice having touched down only to have his tries disallowed for a foot in touch. The defence was working well with Nat and Lucas Sperring making try saving tags and Jack Bulbulia joining the scorers with a fine try. What must be the try of the morning came from good team defence. The ball was turned over on our line by Nelson who ran the whole length of the pitch narrowly evading being tagged to score his third try of the game. A well deserved 7 – 6 victory for Pershore with the whole team contributing well.

Pershore Orange took on Ledbury Red in their first game, again a mixture of new and old players. Archie Beard got off to a flying start and was well supported by Harry Oughton and Josh Young. The game saw good teamwork from both sides, Pershores defence forcing Ledbury into touch for a turnover. Pershores second came from a jinxing run by Carter Adey who touched down in the corner. This was followed by another from Archie. It looked as if the home team were going to take the half but a last second try from Ledbury left them 3 each at the break.

The second half saw Rowan Thomas join the scorers with 1 more each for Archie and Carter. This time Pershore were able to make their excellent teamwork pay off and finished the game 6 – 5 victors.

During the break between games the players asked for a game of Bulldog. Pershore and Ledbury combined forces and ran against all the coaches. Quite a spectacle and hugely enjoyed by all. (some of the coaches looked to be having particular fun) A good work out that created camaraderie between the teams.

Back to the serious stuff. Opponents were swapped and two more games played. Pershore Red played Ledbury Red in an end to end encounter that saw Ledbury just pinch it at the death. Pershore 6 Ledbury 7. Scores from Jack Bulbulia 2,William Bishop 2, Nelson Amphlet 1 and Josh Saunders managed to stay in touch this time for his first try.

Pershore Orange played Ledbury Blue. Pershore continued their winning ways working well as a team. At the final whistle it was Pershore 6 Ledbury 5. Tries from Rowan Thomas 3, Archie Beard 2 and Josh Young 1.

A great mornings Rugby with both Pershore teams working well together and every member contributing in both attack and defence, excellent team work. Well done to players and thanks to the coach’s.

Awards this week : Best Attacker Nelson Amphlet. Best Defender Nat Bracewell, Best Sportsman Harry Oughton.
