Pershore U7’s welcomed Redditch RFC to Piddle Park for a morning of competitive tag and a fun game of bulldog.
The 14 Pershore under 7’s were split into 3 teams whilst two groups group played the others had a joint training session with the Redditch coach.
Group one comprising Rowan, Josh, Carter and Charlie kicked off against a Redditch group with a couple of strong individual players. Pershore soon realised that they needed to work as a team when Redditch quickly went into a 2 – 0 lead. The Pershore boys rallied with tight defense and some good tagging from Carter. A powerful run from Rowan opened up the defence and Pershore had their first try. More strong defence and a couple of turnovers later Pershore were on level terms at 3 – 3 with try’s from Carter and Josh. The final play of the half saw a dancing run from Carter and his second try 4 – 3 to Pershore at half time.
The second half saw more of the same, Pershore now had the measure of the opposition and traded try’s. The fishing net was working well and forced Redditch into touch. The resulting turnover leading to a third try from Rowan. Charlie also got his name on the score sheet with a try in the corner after an of load from Carter who capped of an excellent game with the last try of the half. Final score Pershore 8 Redditch 6.
